To me, Boyka really represents what you'd expect to see if a Shaolin Monk ever fought in MMA rules - both of them would completely destroy anyone they go up against. When I think of a Shaolin Monk, the only way I can think of to sum him up is "power incarnate". A Shaolin Monk is THE last person in the world I'd want to fight; they live by a strict Buddhist code, but they are trained to fight, plain and simple, and they just adapt so easily to any set of circumstances they fight under.
Also, Bokya's lifestyle is just so similar to a Shaolin Monk's. Whenever he's not in the ring, he's either training or praying (although Boyka's a Catholic rather than a Buddhist.) Boyka has a strict honor code in and out of the ring. However, where they differ is that Shaolin Monk's are passive, they don't a lay a finger on someone until they're given absolutely, positively no other choice. Boyka, on the other hand, has three murders on his head at the beginning of UD2, and he kills the guys who rigged his fight with Chambers, so hopefully, UD3 will explore more of Boyka's past and why he is the way he is.
Just because you're a shaolin monk doesn't mean that your god. Everybody is human and it's not like this "A shaolin monk goes in to the UFC cage and he's sure to destroy his opponent" It's never like that. Even a man who has no martial arts experiece can beat a man who does have years of training. In the end Martial Arts doesn't guarantee victory, it only makes you prepared for what's to come. I think people should stop talking about monks like they are superman or something.
