Have you got something to say about your previous movie “The Shepherd: Border Patrol”?
Jcvd: I liked the rabbit and he didn’t ask much money, only carrots (laughing). I was not overall happy with this movie. I wanted to bring my new style of fighting, but that wasn’t me anymore. We had to shot the fights from other angles so that it looked better and my kicks looked higher. And that is not the way I want to do it anymore. I also cut some scenes to make it more realistic. It was a good learning school. In JCVD my fighting skills are way better, I trained a lot and I feel better. Everything in JCVD looks so realistic and smooth. Now I am ready for Full Love.

Shocked ok if he didn´´t train for ts fighting scott...well than whatever....about him cutting it more realistic...well he made the wrong movie for that....I am curious about how his new style of fighting should be like??? we will see....

But still I can´t believe how he is pushing that gettin old button...Jc never had the live of a jacky chan or a jj perry were he constantly broke his bones and tore muscles to earn money...he is no 50 yet...Michael Jai white is a few years younger and on his peak....Bill wallace is 100 years older and splits like a teenager...I just say he lost his drive and if he needed more time to get into shape...well than that just makes my point clearer....

we will see how the new van damme fights, but for a guy who never threw a convincing screen punch in his carreer (except the right straights in unisol) it is a bad sight not working on his boxing if he odesn´t wanna kick anymore!!!

i hate this comment. it´s OK to be honest that he was not happy with TS but now he speaks like he saved the movie with his editing which is definitely not true. he made it more worse. more realistic? Shocked why he didn´t cut the snow on the hill when he wants the movie more realistic or why he made that two terrible cuts in the end fight against scott. this cuts made it unrealistic as hell. JC is flying in the air and at the same time he hits the ground or JC stand 3 or 4 meters away from scott and at the same time he punches him almost face to face. ego cuts and no making realistic cuts. jesus, he talks like he had to cut the movie because it was so bad.

it´s obviously to me now that JC was responsible why isaac florentine was pushed away from post production. i guess it was like that. JC asked his close friend the producer if he can take over the editing and the producer made it possible because JC brought him to this project.

he also talks like he became 60, just like he was rolling in a wheelchair on the set of TS. Rolling Eyes he looks for excuses because he knows that scott adkins is doing better fights in TS than him.

i am almost sure if scott adkins would have been not in the movie then van damme would never made this comments and maybe he didn´t cut the movie.

i don´t understand it. the movie is still solid DTV food but it could have been so much better if van damme didn´t influence all the people from start til the end.

JC says also in the interview that his fighting skills in JCVD are better than in TS. well, that it very easy because there was no other fight actor or martial artist in the movie who could compete with him. that is why he felt more comfortable with the fights in JCVD than in TS where he knew that the stunt actor in the prison and scott adkins stole him the show very easily.

I can´t believe he talked about needing angles to make his kicks look higher and so on....god chuck norris was 156 when he shot walker and he was doubled a lot I know, but there were shots of him himself doing spinning hook kicks and even some sort of tornado kicks...I have them on dvd and you can clearly see whats him....

to be honest..I thought myself that the stuntteam sold jcs basic stuff like hypershit....the crushing chair, the backflip and the sideflip...all with basic kicks...nothing special....

its not like he is suddenly 60....I don´t think that Michael can´t move anymore in 3 years if all goes right....

I am very curious about his fighting in jcvd now...I think he will do his basic nowadays repatoire he used in sic and wod but I don´t see him pulling something special off there....

And still him not training for ts is something I can´t believe and I don´t cause jj reherses everything very good!!!

and him cutting something better is laughable to the bone!!! man take the side kick...the shot it in 4 angles and he used one....the kick against loco is over in a second and he could have made it cool as hell...and speaking of making thing more real...well jc you forgot your sloppy wrestling punches in the jail scene and the childish ground and pound...thoose needed to be cut!!! Hurting someone with thoose punches is more unreal than scott catching you with a 720° butterfyl spiral kick from hell!!!!!!!!!

the thing i dont get with jc is he cut scenes for more realism but he was happy to do that jumping move in the jail scene, i dont see that happen in real fights???? also kick someone through a chair??? doesnt make sense.

The way jcvd is talking about being more realistic on screen-fighting sounds to me like hes talking about no
nonsense actual fighting, being more precise like its some kind of straight-fist fighting documentary or something. If thats the case then that approach wont work for film. Anyone can fight with bare knuckles, wrestle someone and get into some ufc shit in real life but Screen-fighting has to be cinematically good enough to being considered a action/martial art film and to make that come across it has to be well-choreographed and you have to be willing to accept it and yes you'll have to sometimes involve flashy moves or big stunts to
make it more thrilling cause thats show business. Thereby i say good luck with jcvd's newfound fighting on films but i doubt it will further his career.

I agree with you vanberch JC was honest and he has his own opinion what he said about The Shepherd we have to accept that, JC has a bad taste for editing when he said that he saved the movie with his editing.

JC mentioned in the interview that he make new fighting skills in The Shepherd but i can`t find them JC makes only his standard fighting skills like in his recent movies, JC make only this UFC move at the end from the jail fight scene this was new.

After Full Love it seems that JC will do make US-3 for Sony in 2009 my biggest fear is that JC destroy the fights again, with his bad editing taste if US-3 should happen next year i hope that Sheldon Lettich is the director why its a friend from JC and JC trust him.

Loco mentioned on the vandammefan forum that JC make a good performance i agree with you loco, JC can do still make cool looked high kicks look the pictures from cannes 2008. JC don`t have the flexibility anymore like in Bloodsport or Kickboxer because why he is 47 and i think, this is the reason why Scott Adkins or Michael Jay White can steal him the show very easily. And i think this is the fact why JC don`t want to make the 7 minutes planned final fight, and why JC cuts the final fight and moves out from Scott this are ego problems with a better editing the fights would be looking better in TS.
