It seems like the character of Boyka has started to gain a bit of a cult following. I am not sure how UD3 will end, but I would love to see another sequel that follows Boyka on his next challenge.

If Boyka is the character this series is going to embrace for future films, do you think a prequel should be done next to explain to origins of this character? Where did he study martial arts, why was he in prison, where did he accumulate his other scars, etc.?

I thought it would be cool in the prequel he suffered his first defeat by someone, who would be a character that was revisited in UD4 that he would again challenge.

Well, since I did not really like the first Undisputed Movie (with Snipes and Rhames - it felt quite boring until the last fight), if they ever do make a prequel, I'll most likely consider that prequel as UD1, and treat the 3 movies like a trilogy coming full circle(now that would be neat!)

Maybe if Boyka becomes the main character of the series they should create a new title for the series. Much like "Pitch Black" became "The Chronicles of Riddick" when Vin Diesel became the lead.

Yeah, I'm thinking in terms of "Darth Vader Approach" - Vader is the bad guy in the Star wars franchise, yet he is very popular among fans and non-fans alike, which led to Episode I, II, III prequels(similar with Wolverine in current X-men franchise, although Wolverine is not a bad guy, he's still cool nontheless).

If they do decide to make a prequel (which I would love to see), I don't want it to be like 3 movies: one movie about origin should be enough.

Perhaps this is one of the quesions we should ask Scott should he visit the forum during one of his breaks.

I'm really excited about Ninja as well, and if that also becomes a cult hit, I'd like a sequel for that one as well!

UD4 as a prequel is an awesome idea! compliment, slimnation! there are some good story thoughts as well. how he learned MA and became a criminal.....but scott´s next starring movie have to be CAPOEIRA in brazil. i want this to happen next. new locations, new fighting style also jj perry involved again. i know this movie was supposed to happen 2 years ago as scott´s 1st starring movie but since nu image did THE EXPENDABLES in brazil, there should be now good contacts and crew experience for them to make this one as well. nu image have to careful not to use always bulgaria for all their low budget movies.

I think it might be interesting to see what Boyka was like as a gangster in Kiev. According to his tattoos, he was ranked as at least a captain.

It might be cool if the story was some kind of gang conflict leading up to the crime that gets Boyka put away.

also good post, eddie. i am crazy for all your ideas guys, they are great. 1st half of the movie when he was a kid, then a gangster in russia with a different look, then comes to prison, change his look, learns MA in prison and then there´s a final fight competition, win the fight then you will be alive but in prison forever, loose the fight and the electric chair is waiting for boyka.....this could acutally a serious and kick ass drama.

i am very sure if scott is reading he will discuss a prequel with isaac. fingers crossed that UD3 will be a selling hit then this could happen.

Love the enthusiasm for a prequel for Boyka's character.

So many possibilities. There is a lot of room to play with including his past MA training, his tattoos, scars, and criminal history. Was he set up, has he escaped prison before, was he transfered? I think it would be interesting to play with the idea that he got in trouble in Asia and had some history with the prison system over there.

Since this is a prequel, it could be cool to throw some hints at the other UD movies in there, such as maybe seeing a George Chambers title fight on the TV that Boyka is watching.

God I would love to work on this movie.

Here are some possible story lines I would explore if there were a UD prequel.

1.) Boyka came from a wealthy family and grew up with a very strict father.
2.) He spent a lot of his youth growing up between Ukrain and Japan, where his father did a lot of business.
3.) Boyka goes to the best schools but is a rebelious child and does not fit in this world of previldge, mostly because to him, prevlige represents his father, and he despises everything his father stands for.
4.) Boyka's recreation consists of martial arts training and playing soccer.
5.) After years of physical and emotional abuse from his father, Bokya knocks him out (age 13) and runs away from home. His father is his first knockout victim.
6.) Boyka knocks his father out while in Japan and survives on his own for many years.
7.) While alone, he becomes involved with gangs, but also embraces martial arts and starts turning himself into the worlds most complete fighter.
8.) In his early twenties, Bokya returns to Kiev.
9.) He becomes a big player in the criminal underworld.

Not sure exactly where to go from here, but I am thinking he tracks down his father and decides to pull a job that would steal millions from his father as a form of revenge. This could lead to a cool heist that could have some amazing fights.

In the end, Boyka is caught and it is his father who ultimately learns his son is still alive and sends him to prison. The same prison we find him at in UD2.

Thoughts?

Maybe they can have it like he is an orphan who gets taken in by an MMA expert, gets trained by him. But when his master gets killed he finds the murderers and kills them all(thus leading to his 3 first-degree homicide)?

I don't know. I'm just pulling ideas out of my head. It guess we'll find out if Scott and Issac would like to make a prequel after UD3 is released.

One thing I'd like to see is a cameo by Michael Jai White - remember Iceman's championship fight at the end of the first movie(when Iceman is out of the prison and wins the championship, which is watched by Munroe's gang on TV)? I'd love to see White to that fight, with maybe Boyka watching from TV.

That would be a good link to the first and 2nd movie.

Also, it would be good to show Boyka's other traits as well, such as how he is a devoted catholic (I chuckle everytime thinking "for a guy who is a devoted catholic, this guy sure says the F*** word so many times"), and his hobby of stamp collecting (maybe it was his hobby as a child?)

I don't want prequel, because it's will be DTV movie again, i really hope, that next Scott's movie we can see in cinema.

Kenpaichi, as Scott's fans, we all want his movies to go to the cinemas. But unfortunately that is not happening at this point(I personally wanted Ninja and undisputed 3 to go to cinemas, but it looks like Ninja is likely to have limited release in Malaysia but DTV to others. Same would most likely apply to UD3).

However, I don't think just because Scott's movie may go DTV, it does not justify that they should not make a movie (if all movie directors think that way, then we never would have gotten to see UD2 - which is a true gem of a mma film). But my reasoning is if the story is good and a franchise and its character is popular with fans, and if they can provide good action, then they definitely should make the film (but I guess it is up to the director, actors and the studio)

That being said, I really hope that Scott gets a cinema release sometime in the future(soon!).

I want to see a prequel to UD2 as a fan. I think there is a great story there to develop.

However, I think a great way to get Scott some major exposure in the cinema's would be if Scott, Isaac, and J.J. teamed up and did a remake of Bloodsport.

Bloodsport is a cult classic that already has a strong following that would want to see a theatrical release. As long as they keep a modest budget this movie would easily make a profit.

With the team of Scott, Isaac, and J.J., the fights scenes would be far superior, and hopefully with a good writer the story could be slightly modified so it's not a shot for shot remake.
