hi Scott,

i don't want to bother you with questions i just want to say that Isaac, J.J. Perry and yourself make one heck of a team and i would rather have six 2 million budget movies per year made by you guys than only one with 12 million. i know i'm living in a fantasy world but i just wanted to get that off my chest.
please tell Isaac i really miss his whoosing noises.

i would also like to thank giangrosso or anyone else involved in making this happen and you for being such a sport.

greetings from Serbia!

sheba

Sheba,

Thanks for being a fan of our work but honestly if the budgets don't start going up I'll probably end up in a wheelchair. It's not about having more money, it's about having more time. We will always be compared to the other martial arts films on the market and something like Fist Of Legend or Hero will have a 3 month shoot. Jackie Chan made Operation Condor over the course of 12 months and spent 3 months on the end fight for Drunken Master 2. I'm not sure how long they had for Ong Bak but I know that they spent over a week on the alley chase and when Tony Jaa got injured they let him rest till he was better. People will compare us to these other movies not really understanding ow fast we have had to move compared. If we could get just 10 weeks for a movie that would really make the difference.

good night friends, firstly i read some messages here and i wanna thank you scoot for your sincerity...

i wanna ask some questions to you,i hope you answer me

1- can i build my body like u in my home ? because i do kickboxing and it s so expensive sport.i m a student and so i mustn t go to gym

2- this is the most important question :) i want to do an action like u.when you lie down, you lift your legs and you sit up suddenly(sorry,my english not very well,i hope you understand).in my counrty, there not more people who do it and i try to do this action myself.

3-last question.do you suggest some foods to me ? for example before training, after training...?i m go to university for electrical engineerring and some times i can be tired.

thank you so much scott,i will continue to watch you ;)

take care

1) If you've got a space to put a punch bag then I'd say of course you can. I spent my youth in my parents garage icking the hell out of one of those things and it really helped me.

2) It's called a kip up, there's no secret to doing it, just practice all the time. The power comes from your legs and make sure you arch your back and use your arms to push off the floor.

3) You should try and eat 6 balanced meals per day if you can.

that is really true scott, but i know no one on the planet who is better than you and isaac with his crew who did a MA movie as good as U2 in such a short time (4-5 weeks?) but everybody wants to move on.

and it´s really like that. my mates always compares movies without care about how much budget or filming time they had. i say do you know the MA movie U2 and they yes, it´s a good one but this MA movie is better because the fights are longer. i had a conversation lately and that made me going mad. he said U2 was great but why the hell the final fight was so short. in ong bak, the quest and the protector the final fights were much longer. the next time they should make a longer fight then the movie will be better.

the normal movie watchers don´t realize why things are like that or not but hey, the more DVD´s you are selling then the budgets and filming time should be higher in the future.

scott, 7 weeks shooting NINJA is quite a long time. did you and isaac feel comfortable with this filming time compared to U2? i guess isaac never shooted a movie in 7 weeks before if i don´t count TS where people declinded action scenes. van damme is known for slow shooting. 7 weeks but too less happens regarding kicking butt.

1 I have a punching bag aswell and many weigthts at home, they definately help you alot to build up a perfect body.

2 Like scott said "There is no secret about doing the kip up". but i think i can help you. you need to do alot of sit ups and stomach crunches so that your body becomes light and fast. Make sure you do alot of leg strength training and push ups helps alot when it comes to strengthing your arms. After that you'll learn to do the kip within 3 weeks to a month like i did. If you need more help about training Megtorlas then feel free to ask me. Or you can ask Scott who is way better :D

3 not really sure about meals, i eat 3 to 4 balanced meals per day and i think it should be enough.

Scott, did van damme have any of his MA choreographers like Peter Malota when you filmed the Shepherd??

scott, i know that you are only 3 years older than me and you are a huge fan of videogames. so i guess you had (just like i had) a sega mega drive console?

do you know the martial arts ninja cult games "SHADOW DANCER" and REVENGE OF SHINOBI"? the first one is with the white ninja and his dog. i loved that arcade game back in the late 80´s.

Hmm i think you should eat more my friend. I'm 185 cm aswell but i weigh 81 kilos. You should eat more but not give up the training or anything, train 4 days in a week, 2 days should be enough for your body to recover. 80 kilos is the perfect weight for 185cm if you wanna start building muscles. I have it pretty easy building muscles because i'm proportioned with my height and weight. Or at least gain up to 76 or 78.

If the kip up works on the sofa then you should do it everyday on the sofa untill you've mastered the jump completely with no faults. I practised on my bed for months before i could the real deal. Practise everyday on the sofa and you'll also get jumping skills. Then it shouldn't be a problem doing it. Remember to do push ups for the arms and sit ups every day because they strength your abs.

If you have anymore questions then feel free to ask me. I love answering question.

Also i strained my leg while doing splits yesterday because i didn't warm up at first  But it'll go away in about 1 week or a few days.

Hi Scott,

Do you have, or think you will have, your own dojo to train others? Thanks for your time.

Hey scott! THX for all the detailed info!!!
Three more questions about your training...than I am done...I swear!

.)When you train martial arts...you train regular kickboxing classes, do you have some sort of sensei or trainer, or do you just train hollywood do with a sort of team?

.)what are your favourite weight exercises for the basic muscle groups....like thosse you jsut love to do..?

.) we know now about your tarining and your diet...but I just wanted to know how often and how long do you strech in an average trainingweek?...

Thx a lot mate, you are the best!!!

I can´t wait for the first pics from wolverine with you...and the fisrt scenes of ninja...also hope JJ posts soon the rehersal footage from TS (to see what you were up to) and that special vid of you!!!

THX for being such an inspiration!!!

We had 2 more weeks on Ninja than on Undisputed 2 but Ninja is a much more complicated film. Undisputed took place in a prison and that was pretty much it. There are many different locations for Ninja and it all takes time. I would say though that Ninja probably has 3 times the amount of action that U2 did so I think you guys will be very happy.

Pold,

I'm a big fan of mixing it up with MMA although doing Ninja did rekindle my interest in Japanese martial arts. If you're very good at any martial art, whatever the style then you stand to be in good shape for a fight, but personally my money will be on the mixed martial artist.

Tony Jaa and Donnie Yen are my favourite martial arts guys working right now.
