How much time do you dedicate every day to your training?

Hi Michelle,

My normal weekly training regimen would be weight training 3 times a week, running twice a week, gymnastics twice a week and martial arts twice a week but if I have an action film coming up then that training goes into overdrive to get my body ready for the consistant abuse. I'll normally ramp up the gymnastics and martial arts.

I guess most of my ability came to me when I was a teenager. When I was thirteen or fourteen I got mugged on a bus by 4 guys, I was never a tough kid and this must have flipped a switch in my brain. I turned my parents garage into a dojo. I had a punch bag, speed ball, makiwara, weights bench and I used to go in there after school every night without fail and train. There was even a shrine to Bruce Lee. I think I was living out my own No Retreat No Surrender movie without the ghost. Then when I was 21 I met a guy called Anthony Jones who had his own Kickboxing schools. I used to travel around around with him to all his classes and train at everyone which was pretty much every week night but on Sunday I would train 4 times in that day. That should give you a good idea of how much training I did.

Thanks for the kind words,

Scott.

lol, i was watching No retreat No surrender(which is one of my fav movies) yesterday and i always laugh at Jason's Dad. "Karate is not to be used aggresively, but if i have no other choice" he's so corny. Allthough jasons conversations with his dad must be the best dialogue i've ever heard.

You did alot of training Scott, but i guess it paid off. So you didn't start with MA untill you were 21?

scott,

thanks, you really have to watch INFERNAL AFFAIRS. i have seen the film yesterday for the 1st time in my life and it was blowing me away. did you see this movie yet?

i am glad that you would decline to work with JC again because i think you guys are going in two different directions right now. it would be waste so and so.

scott, how did you get along with moshe diamant working on THE SHEPHERD? i am just asking because according to sheldon lettich he was blamed for all the bad blood what happened on TS. honestly, i don´t think so. to me, JC was the main problem why this project ended up in creative differences and a disapointment on the screen. a lot great fights and action could have saved snow on the mexican hill IMO.

also, we know that one big fight move was taken out from JC because he thought it was to much HK like. can you tell us in detail what this move was all about and when this move happened in the movie? on which part of the final fight this move happened? i just curious about it because we will never see it.

Scott,

1) Are you and Isaac going to promote this like you guys did with Undisputed 2 or will it depend on wether it goes to theatres and how the final product turns out?
2) Youv worked with alot of big action/martial arts people, which person have you been nervous to meet most?
3) How does it feel now to have done your very first film and see your name at top billing on this film?
4) Do you think the cameos that you have done i.e bourne, tournament, wolverine help alot in being able to be the main star now?

Hi, Scott

it's really kind of you to spend some of your time answering fans' questions.

By the way I think it's a good choice when you mentioned that Nathan Jones is one of your dream cast to join Undisputed 3. Boyka against him would be awesome!!!

I have a couple of questions:

1. Do you have any info if Ninja is going to be released in theaters or DTV? Or did any US distribution company buy the rights so far?

2. Which is your favourite movie of the ones you starred in?

3. With who would you like to work in your future films?

Wish you all the best and thanx,
Slavkov

Hi Scott, I have a few questions if you get the chance to answer them:

1) What has been your favorite filmmaking moment/experience so far?

2) Any word on when The Tournament will be released in the US? The trailer on youtube looks awesome!

3) Since you are a man of considerable martial arts talent, have you found yourself in situations on films, where
cast or crew members try to challenge you? (Ex: Like Bruce Lee being challenged by extra on Enter the
Dragon.)

4) Finally, I read on the forum that you are an Oasis fan! (Good taste!) What are some other bands that you are
into? I have a few recommendations: Check out The Classic Crime, they just released an album called The
Silver Cord
that is simply amazing. And if you like heavier music, especially for working out and stuff check
out Project 86. All of their albums are good.

Thanks again for taking the time to do this! God bless you! - Dave Kratz

Hello again

You're being a really good sport with all these questions.

We've all got our fingers and toes crossed that 2009 will be your 'breakthrough' year as a mainstream action man. So when that time comes what will you do differently to the other action hereos past and present to give you the edge?

I have seen Infernal Affairs, a great movie.

Moshe Diamant wasn't very helpful in the making of the movie, especially towards me.

There's a move where I do a suicide kick, land on my back on Dragon Kip up onto my feet. I guess it was cut because you could clearly see it wasn't JC.

1) I intend to promote the film as much as possible, I personally think it's going to be great. It's hard to tell until you see the first edit but I have a good feeling. I hope that Blade Runner can do a website like he did for Undisputed.

2) Jackie Chan for sure. He's a living legend. I could hardly make sound come out my mouth I was that star struck. Having to fight him on the boat on The Medallion was one of the greatest experiences of my career. I could tell that I was being tested by Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan and the rest of the stunt team to see if I would get the end fight sequence with Jackie on the strength of this small fight sequence. I passed the test but unfortunately the end fight was cut.

3) I love it. If it all ended now and I never worked again at least I know that I achieved my goal.

4) It all helps. I'd say the fact that I've done straight acting roles helps a lot but I'm sure being in Wolverine did too. To be fair though I've had a relationship with Nu Image for a while now and it's been on the cards for a few years, it just so happened that everything fell into place.

I started martial arts aged 10. Judo was first, then Tae Kwon-Do which I gave up at Red Belt (belt beow Black) and then Kickboxing. I only have a Black Belt in Kickboxing, however I've studied lots of martial arts for different reasons. I started gymnastics when I was 18, quite late really.

If I had to pick one martial art I would go for Krav Maga, it's a very aggressive form of self defence. You can't fail with MMA though.
