Several sources stated that Hugh Jackman is preparing Wolverine 2. According to that early info it is to be set in Japan, and will focus on the samurai / Yakuza storyline of the comics, wherein Wolverine trains in the way of the samurai in order to control his feral nature, and falls in love with Mariko Yashida, heir to a Yakuza family.

I recently watched a version of Wolverine with different "after the credits" ending. The version that I watched first ended with Hugh Jackman in a Japanese bar ordering a drink and the lady-barman asks him if he's drinking to forget and he answers that he's drinking to remember. This ending sounds logical with the info that we later had that the sequel will take place in Japan.
But the other day I saw another version with that Japanese bar sequence removed and instead there comes a scene from the ruined factory chimney with a hand moving from the ruins towards the head of Weapon XI. It reaches it and Weapon XI opens his eyes. And that's how it ends and it leaves an open ending with him being alive. So I was thinking is that a possibily that Weapon XI can return in the sequel (maybe tracking Wolverine to Japan) and this could be the chance for Scott to play the main villain in a theatrical released blockbuster? What do you think about it?

I'm not familiar with the comic stories of X-Men, I've watched only the movies. But I don't know if it's a hint to the Deadpool spin-off because it's no Deadpool anymore, it's Weapon XI and that's how ot ended with Weapon XI. I doubt that they'll transform him back to Deadpool for the feature film. I think Deadpool movie will be a seperate story about the character with less to do with the Wolverine movie.

well deadpool was weapon 11 and the former wade wilson...they overdid him a bit with the laserbeam eyes and so...but you see has his mouth open again and his eyes normal in that shot...wich with the blades out of his forearms and back to his back to his back as samurai swords would make him the original deadpool...who got the healing factor from wolverine in the wepon x programme....

As soon as "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" hit theaters, Hugh Jackman has been talking about developing a sequel, this time taking Logan to Japan where he learns Eastern philosophy and fighting skills.

Jackman now tells MTV News that he has already started work on the new installment. "Japan is where we're heading, [and] we're starting to work on it now," he confirmed. "We're in the first steps of developing that story."

He added: "I think the fans love that saga. It's my favorite saga of the Wolverine stories. That's a movie I've longed to make from the beginning, so that's where we're heading."

"X-Men" Writer to Pen "Wolverine" Sequel
Christopher McQuarrie has signed on to write the script for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Hugh Jackman is set to return as the Marvel Comics character, a mutant with healing powers and a skeleton laced with the indestructible metal known as adamantium.

The movie's story line will take its cue from the early 1980s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries, which is set in Japan and features Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai's code of honor and respect.

Jackman recently said that he hopes to have the sequel in theaters by 2012.

McQuarrie is not unfamiliar with the character. The scribe, who won an Oscar for writing "The Usual Suspects" for Bryan Singer, re-teamed with the director to write 2000's "X-Men." Though McQuarrie could have received a credit, he voluntarily took his name off the movie when the final version was more in line with David Hayter's script than his.

"Wolverine" Sequel to Shoot in a Year

During the recent People's Choice Awards, Hugh Jackman won for "Favorite Action Star." The show then caught up with the actor backstage to talk about his upcoming projects.

"I'm doing a movie called 'Real Steel' in the summer, but I'm not playing much of an action star in that," Jackman revealed. "Wolverine is going to be back, he's going to Japan. We'll shoot that probably in a year, year and a half, something like that. There's a little scoop for you."

Considering that "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" started filming fourteen months before appearing in theaters, there is a good chance that the sequel will be released during the summer of 2012.
