I am fascinated 2 know more about your acting talents..And how you are able to transform yourself into a character..Was the character Yuri Boyka based on anyone real?? And what is the process you go through to become someone like that?
Melissa,
Thanks for the high praise. I guess Boyka was modelled on Chuck Lidell but not as much as you'd imagine. I went to the film with long hair and a bushy beard and along with Isaac and our make up lady we shaved and shaped my head into something that was as mean looking as we could make it. We experimented with rotten teeth and stuff but that was overkill. We just wanted me to look mean. I think its easier to change yourself physically and hide behind a character rather than play someone more like yourself. When you put on the costume and don't see yourself in the mirror it gives you more confidence to go even further with the characterisation. Obviously the accent helps and especially the added size, it's amazing how differnt people treat you when your big. My character in Ninja is very different to that, he's mild mannered and quite naive and I even plyed him younger than I am so it will be interesting to see the reaction to the role or whether people just want to see me as the bad ass!
Thanks,
Scott.
