he said he would decline working with donnie and tony jaa because they using wires and he don´t want to use them.

both guys don´t using wires in ONG BAK and FLASH POINT. this films are so popular and respected because they are done without it. Confused

That's pretty fucked up mate. Everyone knows Tony does not use wires........

He's a little out of touch with that one. Flash Point was the best martial arts film last year and that never used wires.

Apparently, JC says that 10 years ago he was doing what Tony Jaa is doing ha ha

No one since Scott has anyone been able to move like Tony

That's pretty lame of JC! I grew up watching his movies and they will always have a nostalgic quality for me. That being said, although fight choreography has evolved quite a bit over the past several years, JC never really had that many mind-blowing fight scenes. A lot of his stuff is kind of slow and repetitive, even when I watch it keeping his era in perspective.

If he isnt familiar with what's going on with current MA stars, he should either do his HW or keep his mouth shut!

Thanks Nofear! Smile

JJ, if you read this, who seems to be more up to speed with current martial arts and movies, Van Damme or Seagal? They both seem kind of "out there". Are they both pretty open to someone else choreographing their stuff or do they try to do it themselves?

P.S. What's up with Seagal talking like a "gangsta" even in interviews now? Shocked

p86, dont get me wrong, i get along good with both of them, but they are both out of touch with reality! i have heard both of them clown tony jaa, and we all know thats sacrelidge.. if either of them would have clowned scott to my face i would have knocked them the fuck out! the proof is in the pudding, if they could do what jaa or adkins could do, believe me they would be doing it! they player hate instead, and its sad. its an interesting time, there is a changing of the guard happening right before our eyes, i cant tell you what scott has after he finishes wolverine yet, but its huge!! and ong bak 2 is coming soon, evolution is afoot, the old school guys are gonna have a rough ride from here out, they should be cool to the young guys, or the younger generation action stars will be the final nail in their coffins. i have watched them come and go in the last 18 years, and the talent level of the young action stars of today is unbeleivable, and they are easy to work with, and nice guys, and take their work very very seriously. as for jc or segal accepting choreogrophy, neither of them like to step out side their comfort zone, i personally loved segals early stuff, but he hasnt done it since the mid 90's, and jc had clean kicks in his day, but they dont want to take chances anymore, it was hard to get as much fighting in the shepherd as we did, he didnt want to do the epic battle with scott, and thats show biz! both segal and jc has been very nice to me, i like both of them, but i dont understand them, they are out of touch with their target market. i will be pulling for them, but as a fan not a choreo., i am gonna go with the young guys! lets see where everyone is in 3 years from now.. sorry about the rant.

Awesome reply, JJ! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think Seagal will continue cranking out a few more DTV repeat actioners similar to Urban Justice and Pistol Whipped and Van Damme will continue trying to be more artsy and more drama-oriented. BTW, what is your favorite Seagal fight of all time? How bout, Van Damme? Here are mine: Seagal - Marked for Death (mall scene)
Van Damme- Maximum Risk (all 3 fights with Stefanos Miltsakakis)

I cant wait to see what Scott has in store next! You guys need to get a gig here in Philly! Smile

Unbelievable van damme. You and seagal are just mad cause you guys are not only old but your skills has tarnished a bit, all of your movies has to be released straight to dvd while tony jaa, donnie and scotty are getting plenty of screentime on the silver screen, and van damme and seagal basically plays the same characters in their last 5 films, Not to mention tony, donnie and scott are more up-to-date with their woredrobe while seagal is still has that same pony tail and still wear those same old tight jeans lol. I mean no disrespect but its like what nas said he cant stand when the older generation puts down the newer generation. Tony jaa said in one of his interviews he would like to work with steven seagal and if what jj said about steven clowning tony is true then thats a damn shame.

IMO, van damme also seagal are simply JEALOUS about jaa, adkins and yen. why isaac was pushed back from the shepherd in post. i believe at the end of the day it was van damme who made that happen because he was scared that scott would looking better and that his crappy taste (which he thinks is great) won´t be seen on the screen. JC didn´t trust the crew from UNDISPUTED 2 from the start til the end. i think that is very clear and well, that is showbuisness i guess.
sorry loco, don´t be angry with me but because of all that i hate the shepherd. i only love the first 15 minutes. they were great but the rest, it´s painful because i am feeling like some of my best friends were fucked up and i know what this movie could have been. one of the coolest dtv action movies of the year it could have been.
-even easily- if JC would have trusted you guys from U-2 more. at the end of the day seagal, either JC are working against their own success and movies. it´s sad. Sad but regarding seagal i must say with his last two films he is on the way up.

and thanks loco for being honest. i always say "being honest" is so important. you have to be critical even about a good friend but only that can change something from shit into gold.

scott will be bigger than JC and seagal in 3-5 years, i am sure.

some great posts here guys Smile
i too am looking forward for what scotts next project will be and agree times look great ahead for scott, jc just has to apprieciate new talent and be more postive about competition this would help him alot more. If jc does another film with fights he needs to make them very gritty and violent in order to keep up with scott and tony, jc cant do all the crazy moves these guys can do so to try and compete i think being gritty and violent could be the way.

guys, recently sheldon lettich told us that JC don´t like the new action guys jason statham and keanu reeves because they are not believeable enough.

well, cinema these days changed, someone shoudl tell that JC. the 80´s and early 90´s are over. people do not love only the bodybuildig action stars anymore. they prefer matt damon in bourne, reeves, clive owen, statham etc.

i love them all! they are making better action movies than JC these days. it´s scarry that JC has so less respect for all this guys. Sad

it seems JC does also not know a lot about his own audience and what the audience in generel these days like or not.

acutally, in germany where i live a small dtv indie movie company bought the german rights for scott´s STAG NIGHT but they also bought J.C.V.D. now (in JC´s opinion "his best movie ever") no big company bought this movie in germany. not even a big indie label. JC has to be careful, if he is going on like that making movies that his target audience do not wanna see then the younger action stars are very soon over him! JC has to make a dark MMA drama with very violent and gritty fight scenes. that could be a comeback to the roots with his new acting drama style that he also prefers these days but well, the drama bits in THE SHEPHERD didn´t work at all for this kind of movie because it was not a dark film.

but you see J.C.V.D. was not more worth than STAG NIGHT for german distributors and STAG NIGHT was a little production compared to J.C.V.D.

I cannot believe that JC thinks that people like Scott are believable enough. I mean come on, is Bloodsport really that believable or Kickboxer?

These new 'unbelievable' action stars are so much more cleverer than yesteryears..
