I too am a huge Punisher fan! I loved reading Punisher War Journal as a kid. Anyway, I will definitely give this movie a chance, but I'm a little surprised by the " John Woo-ness" in the trailer. When I originally read about this movie, I remember the director talked about it being more gritty and realistic. I wasn't getting that vibe from the trailer at all, but we'll see what happens. So far, I have liked Dolph Lundgren's version of the Punisher the best even though it strayed alot from the comics.
the hanging up side down while shooting is not too much like the maxx version of the punisher...which this movie should represent...the all crazy rest goes down since Frank can really go berserk and does in most of the max comics...this one should be ultraviolent so I am curious!!!

Funny comment from the director about the tariler....
"Wow, I was psyched and surprised to see the trailer, I had no clue it was coming out so early.
I’m also blown away that there is such a huge reaction to it. The good, the bad, I love it all. I’ve been getting emails from all over the world and heard from friends I’ve known in the Karate and Kickboxing circuit whom I haven’t spoken to in years. I’m starting to realize how huge The Punisher fan base is.
I’m not sure what kind of impression I would get from this trailer if I didn’t actually know the film. I am utterly impressed, though, they managed to find that much PG rated action footage at all. It had to be a challenge to cut a trailer from our action stuff without showing any gore and blood.
I’ve been told that you can’t even show heads blowing up in red-band trailers. I hope that’s not true because that would suck. It’s weird to see Castle shoot all those bullets and not see the thugs who are catching them. That’s the best fucking part about it!!!
I’m very happy that the hardcore Punisher fans recognized the lines taken directly from the comic books (all credit goes to Ray Stevenson for that), and that MAX fans appreciated the color theme that was also directly copied from the books.
Yes …don’t expect this Punisher to be set in an ultra-realistic world. Every director has to make a call on the vision and style of a film and putting The Punisher in a realistic and gritty setting would be like having Det. Vic Mackey of THE SHIELD run around with a big ass skull on his chest, or Ray Liotta’s character in NARC suddenly go: “Hey, I think I just saw a guy whose face looks like a Jigsaw puzzle.” Ha, ha.
Real crime stories and comic books are two different worlds for me. It was my first priority to please The Punisher comic book fans and with all the respect to two wonderful actors, I wasn’t trying to become a member of the Dolph Lundgren or Thomas Jane fan club. This film is about the mythology of FRANK CASTLE, it is ultra violent and it will look not a little, but a lot like this:
I’ve been reading some of the boards out there and I want to give a shout out to the loyal, excited and trusting fans who have been trying to shut up the haters & trolls in the most hilarious way. Being a little Hooligan girl myself, I’m a sucker for anybody who fights for their firm (gang) and stands up for a cause. I also need to thank the haters because it is indifference that would be the real nightmare.
I just saw THE INCREDIBLE HULK and I really, really loved it. Ed Norton rocks and Louis Leterrier did an excellent job with action, style, pace and everything. If the hate they received for their first trailer is an indication to how well that film turned out in the end, hell…I want more hate!"
cool...but stevenson is still the weak link for me...the rest will fit good I think!!!

this film looks BADASS!! i love the music really fits the trailer and pumps you up!! to be honest i would of preffered him beefed up, but that type of action im not bothered now . this is def on top of my list of films to watch!! i know it sounds weird but this type of violence is wot i love to see in films, stuff that makes me go ooooo like you can feel it or makes you have to rewind it as its that good.
An update on that storry that doesn´t sound so bad....
One of the more gossipy events from Comic-Con was the absence of director Lexi Alexander from the panel discussing Punisher: War Zone. An announcement like “she’s on her honeymoon this weekend” would not have raised so many eyebrows if there hadn’t already been so many rumblings about strained relations between her and the studio, Lionsgate.
We got a call from an inside source, whom we’ll nerdily call Detective Soap, that’s been privy to a lot of the back and forth. He tells me that trouble between the studio and Lexi started months ago when Lionsgate sent her some publicity materials for her approval that she put up on her blog. Punisher fans (like us) gobbled that up and sent that link around, but it wasn’t all part of the marketing campaign that Lionsgate had in mind. (And when you figure that this is the studio behind franchise successes like Saw, figure they know what they’re doing.) When the studio asked her to remove the pics, she went a little bananas, claiming that this was unfair and stifling censorship - a harbinger of overreactions to come.
Since then, reactions to notes and suggestions from the studio – which are completely normal on a film of this size – have been met either with complete ease or raging hostility. “They say she’s a bit like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” the source confided.
When it came time to prepare for San Diego Comic-Con, Lexi realized that she was going to be on her honeymoon and saw no reason to change those dates. She was not removed from the panel or forbidden to come, but few at the studio were heartbroken she couldn’t attend. The honeymoon was not a lie or an excuse – that part is actual straight dope.
The funny part is, my source tells me, that the raw footage is fantastic. The visuals are great and there are some awesome action sequences – but like any film of this size it needs tweaking. Alexander’s previous films have been low budget independents and perhaps she’s just not accustomed to the machinations of larger budget filmmaking. There is, indeed, a new post-production team in place (and new composer), folks that have worked closely with the Marvel camp on their recent projects.
The project, though, has not been taken completely out of her hands as some recent internet postings might lead you to believe. She is still contracted as a consultant on the film and is involved in further decision-making. Detective Soap just hopes that it is more of the Jekyll and less the Hyde.

What is with Lionsgate? If the scoop reported by El Guapo over at Latino Review is true, the studio is trying to get Punisher War Zone cut down to a PG-13 rating. Coming on the heels of the dumping of Midnight Meat Train into dollar theater, the Dane Cook poster kerfuffle about My Best Friend's Girl and some other behind-the-scenes shit I am not at liberty to print, Lionsgate is looking more and more like a company deeply in crisis. Part of this is based on regime changes, but Lionsgate is really giving off the vibe of a studio that hates its own product.
I don't even know how War Zone would be cut to a PG-13 - the red band trailer shows that this movie was filmed with maximum blood and guts; a PG-13 edit would play like a shitty TV edit. I don't have a ton of faith in this movie, but at the very least I expect to be entertained by copious amounts of gore and hilarious violence. If the movie doesn't have that, what's even the point?
There have been a lot of weird rumors surrounding this project - no matter what denials may come, it's obvious there's trouble here - and I'm jonesing for the full scoop to one day be revealed. In the meantime, I'd really like to see Frank Castle put a chair leg in a guy's eye in a major motion picture.

"Steve Gainer, director of cinematography on the upcoming 'Punisher: War Zone' speaks up over on the Raw message boards.
Holy smokes, I go away and shoot some kids stuff for Disney, and the whole world is a different color when I return. Again I appear here to dispel rumors. Please believe:
Lexi is not off the film
Lexi is still involved in the edit process
The film is not (nor could it ever be) PG-13
Today I saw a cut that ran 91 minutes
Lexi did in fact get married
Lexi is an incredibly talented director, and this film kicks major ass, as will be proven when it is released IN THEATRES DECEMBER 5th
The film is most certainly not all exploding heads, but will reveal a great deal of Franks personna and pain
This film has been difficult from the begining, from a bitter Canadian winter, to endless nights, to rampant sickness, Lexi has fought to make a killer Punisher film for fans and non fans alike.
Initially we were to release in September, but for whatever reason (not the quality of the film or edit IMHO) it was decided to release in December. That extra time has given everyone a chance to put their two cents worth in, but rest assured, Lexi is still stearing the boat, and she is a great captain.
When I hear vicious unfounded troll rumors like the "film was unwatchable" or "a total mess" it makes my blood boil. I want to punish the corrupt. People sit on their fat asses trolling the internet, people that have never even looked through a motion picture camera, and make judgements on a work of art that they've never seen, it's like saying a baby will be ugly before it is born, I can't freaking wait for this film to come out and prove the nay-sayers wrong.
Sorry for the rant, I just love something wonderful you have yet to see-"
This can still rock!!
